General
The short answer is no. The explanation: The studio is small and has limited space and seating. With that being said, exceptions can be made if there are open chairs. Call ahead to find out if this is possible.
There are children's classes with crafts and projects geared toward different age groups, usually with shorter class times to better keep a child's focus.
There are some classes that are for mixed ages ... 4th grade through adult, and in that case, each person in attendance needs a ticket.
Yes, we can book birthday parties, ladies night out, church groups, etc.
When booking a private event, your group may bring food, snacks, etc. There is not an oven, microwave, or refrigerator, so please keep that in mind when planning foods.
If your group is too large for the studio, there are traveling rates for me to come to you (it takes a lot to pack everything up, set it up, pack it up, then put if back away in the studio, plus gas). If I come to you, the waiver is still in effect, and Knotted Lens, LLC is not liable for damages due to "art accidents".
While there are not any currently, there can be. Please contact me to set up a meeting to discuss the details -- ages of the children, frequency of classes, is there anything specific the children need to focus on?
I am also a science (primarily Biology) nerd and have taught Middle School STEM before. The possibility of having a course incorporating arts and craft into STEM is a strong one!
PS: The "Glitter Slime" art project has an accompanying science and observation packet (The Science of Slime) that can be sent to you digitally (no profit reproductions allowed, but can be shared with others) at not cost, or printed for $0.50. Other lessons are in the works!
There is a rental fee of $50 for the first 90 minutes, and $25 for each hour after that. You will be able to use general reusable supplies (i.e. paintbrushes, mixing pallets, water cups, scissors, tabletop easels, etc.), but any consumables (i.e. paint, podge, sealers, macramé, etc.) you will need to supply. You will be responsible for collecting any items your patrons used. We know that accidents sometimes happen, and we also value honesty. If anything is accidentally broken, respectfully, let the owner know at first opportunity.
You can bring your own supplies and rent a seat for $5/hour if you are an artist just looking for a spot to create.
Currently, only 4th grade and up can be dropped off, so long as there is an updated EMERGENCY CONTACT CARD on file.
ARTFUL TOTS (ages 3-kindergarten) classes are capped at 9 children + 1 adult helper to sit beside them. The classes in this age group are structured as "parent and me" classes. What this means, 2 parents cannot sit with 1 child...there just simply isn't enough space (or chairs).
DOODLEBUGS (1st-3rd grade) class sizes are capped at 9 plus 1 parent/guardian. For this age group, the parent can decide if they want to sit near the child or off to the side.
ARTVENTURERS (4th-6th grade) class sizes are capped at 9 if one parent stays on site per child, but class size can vary based on whether a parent is sitting-in or dropping off. The more parents that drop-off, the more seats available to have a class that could accommodate up to 12-14 children. Class size will be adjusted on the sign-up links accordingly.
CHROMANAUTS (7th-12th grade; referred to as the teen class): While not force, parents are strongly encouraged to do drop-off for this age group. If all parents do drop-off, this age group could have 12-14 students. Class size will be adjusted on the sign-up links accordingly.
